 Plumbob: It is made of brass or steel. It is heavy and pointed at one end and fixed with the fish thread. It is conical in shape. It is used to make the straight vertical lines.

 Insulation Remover: It is used to remove the insulation cover from the wire. Its size varies from 150 mm to 200 mm. It is generally used in factories.to Gauge setter

Pulley Puller: It is made of mild steel. It has three adjusting legs mounted on a fixture which has a fully threaded stud to move to and fro. It is used for removing the pulley from the shaft of motor etc.


Bearing Puller: It is made of mild steel. It has two or three legs mounted on a fixture which has a fully threaded stud to move to and fro. It is used for removing the bearing from the shaft of a machine.

Wire Stripper: It is used to remove the insulation of the wire. It contains slots of different sizes. Its size varies from 200 mm to 350 mm. It is also used in factories.

 Crimping Tool: It is used for the jointing of wire or thimble etc. It is available in different sizes.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE TOOLS

The following are the care and up-keep to be observed for the maintenance of tools:

(1) Pliers:

a) Do not cut steel wires and other hard substances.

(b) Do not grip hot substances.

(c) Do not use it as a hammer.

(d) Maintain the insulation on the plier properly.

(e) Lubricate if needed.


(2) Screw Driver:

(a) The edge should not be too sharp.

(b) Do not use it as a hammer or chisel.

(c) Use proper size for particular screws

 (d) Do not use with a loose handle.

(e) The handle should not be oily.

(3) Hammer:

(a) Do not use it with loose handle.
(b) Handle should be properly wedged.
(c) There should be no trace of oily substance on hammer.
(d) Proper size of hammer should be selected for proper work..

(4) Tenon Saw and Hand Saw:

(a) Do not use it with a loose handle.

(b) Protect from rust.

(C) Apply grease when not in use.

(d) Always use triangular file for sharpening the teeth.

(e) Keep it straight while using.

(f) It should not be used on metallic substances.

(5) Hack Saw:

(a) Keep straight while cutting otherwise the blade will break.

 (b) Keep it safe from rust.

(c) The blade should be tightened.

(d) Apply water during cutting the pipe.
 
(e) The direction of the teeth of the blade should be in forward position.

(6) Pocker:

(a) Keep it well sharpened.

(b) Do not use on metals.

(c) Use it properly and take care.

(7) Gimlet:

(a) Do not use it without a handle.

(b) It should be kept straight while drilling otherwise screw position may get damaged.

(c) The handle should be tight.

8) Drilling Machine:

(a) Always keep the machine clean and lubricate the parts like gears.

(b) The handle should be tight. (c) Drill bit should be properly fixed in the jaws of the machine.

(d) Keep the drill machine vertical while drilling.

(e) In case big hole is to be made first apply drill of small size and then a big hole with the proper size brill bit.
(f) When electric drill machine is used it must be earthed.

9) Firmer Chisel:

(a) Do not use it at places where nails are driven.

(b) Do not use it as a screw driver. 

(c) It should be sharpened on the water stone or oil stone.

(d) Always strike it by the mallet.

(10) Cold Chisel:

(a) There should be no trace of grease or oil on the head of the chisel. 

(b) The edge should be sharpened and properly maintained.

(c) Grind the chisel to the proper angle.

(11) Files:

(a) Do not use without handle. 

(b) Clean the file with the wire brush and always run the brush in the direction of the teeth.

(c) Don't use it as a hammer. 

d) File should be selected according to the nature of the work. 
(e) Wash the file with sulphuric acid for removing grease and dirt.

(f) It must be free from dust.

(12) Standard Wire Gauge: 

(a) It must be free from dust.

(b) Don't throw it in the tool box. 

(c) Do not hammer it otherwise the accuracy will be damaged.

(13) Try Square:

(a) Do not use it as an hammer.

(b) The blade should be at right angle.

(c) Keep it free from rust.

(14) Electrician Knife:

(a) Keep the knife properly sharpened. 

(c) Do not use it for cutting hard wire.

(b) It must be free from dust.

(15) Line Tester :

(a) Do not use it on a higher voltage that specified.

(b) Stand on the earth while testing the supply.

(16) Vice:

(a) Do not over tight.

(b) Do not use the vice as an anvil.

(c) Never apply oil or grease on the jaws.

(d) Clean properly after use.

(17) Soldering Iron:

(a) Do not over heat the soldering iron. 

(c) Before soldering, first tin its bit.

(b) The bit should be properly cleaned. 

(d) Clean the bit after using.

(18) Rawl Plug Tool:

(a) Do not throw it on the ground.

(b) Do not use it on metals.
(c)while using a rotate it slowly

(19) Stock and Die Set:

(a) Stock and Die should be used according to the size of the pipe.

(b) The die should be equally tightened while using.

(c) Apply oil while threading.

(d) Handle should be well tightened.

(e) Clean the die after use.

(20) Scissors:

(a) Do not use it as a hammer

(b) Keep it safe from dust.

(c) Do not cut hard substances.

(d) Do not use hard substances like wires or tin with it. 

21.cutter :

(a) Use some lubricant, if required.

(b) Do not use it as a hammer

(22) Mallet:

(a) Do not use on hard substances other than tin or copper.

(b) Do not use it on nails.

(c) Handles should be properly tight.

(23) Spanner Set:

(a) Do not use it as hammer. 

(b) Keep it free from rust.

(c) It should be selected according to the size of nut and bolts.

(d) It should be cleaned after use.

(24) Pulley Puller/Bearing Puller:

(a) Lubricate the screw plate and screw periodically.

 (b) It should not be hammered.

(c) Avoid from rust.

(25) Blow Lamp:

(a) The nozzle should be properly cleaned.

(b) Do not pump in excess.

(c) While burning put the nozzle towards the walls. 

(d) Do not fill the tank more than 3/4 of its capacity.

(26) Smoothing Plane:

(a) Do not use it at that places, a nail is driven in the wood.

(b) Keep it free from rust.

(c) Keep its blade well sharpened.

(27) Augar:

(a) Do not use on iron.

(b) Keep it free from rust.

(28) Micrometer:

(a) Keep it separate from the cutting tools. 

(b) Do not use grease.

(c) Clean it by a clean cloth after use.

(d) Do not use in movable jobs.

(29) Centre Punch:

(a) Do not use on hard metals.

(b) Point of the punch should be pointed and sharp. 
(c) Save it from the rust.

(d) Use hammer according to the punch.

(30) Wire striper:

(a) Save it from the rust

 (b) Do not hold hot objects.

(c) Do not cut wire.

(31) Reamer:

(a) Use proper coolent or lubricant according to metal

(b) Keep straight while drilling. 

(c) The reamer speed and feed should be less as compared to drilling.

(32) Masonary Bit:

(a) Use coolant while drilling. 

(b) Keep straight while drilling.

(33) Foot Rule Four Fold:

(a) Do not throw it with other tools in the tool kit
 (b) Keep it safe from dust, dirt and oil.
